The news in 60 seconds

US firm Jones Day has announced it will promote 45 lawyers to partner in this year’s round of promotions. 22 (49 per cent) of those promoted this year were women. The US saw the most promotions, with only two making partner in the London office – finance and restructuring associate Thomas Miller and private equity and M&A associate, Chris Slack. Stephen Brogan, managing partner, said: “The promotion of these new partners reflects Jones Day’s ongoing commitment to developing and advancing lawyers… who have achieved the highest levels of professional accomplishment.”
