WHN strengthens Legal 500 presence significantly

Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall has been acknowledged in the 2027 edition of Legal 500 for its continued excellence in several legal fields and for its robust growth in the North West legal market
The firm achieved recognition for the sixth consecutive year, highlighting five teams and ten individual legal specialists in its ranks.
The Corporate and Commercial team has made significant strides, advancing to tier 3 from tier 4, showcasing its growing reputation and service offerings tailored for SMEs and family-owned businesses. The team’s expansion reflects its response to market demands, growing from two to five lawyers in just two years. WHN’s head of Corporate and Commercial, Paul Matthews earned personal accolades as a Leading Partner, noted for his ‘experience in corporate transactions and commercial matters’ and specialism in ‘constitutional work for incorporated and unincorporated clubs and associations’.
Other teams within WHN have also maintained their respected positions, including the Dispute Resolution team, which retained its tier 4 ranking, alongside personal recommendations for Michael Shroot and Sara Beaumont in the area of commercial litigation. The property litigation experts were acknowledged for handling commercial landlord and tenant disputes, with Daniel Long highlighted for his ‘expertise in handling litigation relating to commercial leases’.
Within the Commercial Property team, which has been termed ‘very experienced’, tier 3 recognition was retained, particularly for development matters. Three team members received personal recommendations: director Nicola Phelps, associate Katie Hall, and newly ranked director Alex Walsh.
The Family team has also sustained its tier 3 position, demonstrating its capacity to assist clients with a variety of complex issues including financial remedy cases and matters related to the Children Act. David Connor, the director and head of Family, was praised for his expertise in divorce and separation, while Tanya Magell received recognition as a Leading Associate. Alison Nolan joined the rankings as a newly recommended associate.
