Browne Jacobson has appointed Alexander Studholme as Partner in construction arbitration to enhance its services for clients across various sectors and regions
Browne Jacobson’s capacity to navigate intricate, high-stakes construction and infrastructure disputes has received a significant boost with the recent hiring of Alexander Studholme as Partner in construction arbitration. Alexander transitions to the UK and Ireland law firm from Mantle Law, where he spent over six years honing his expertise in international arbitration, particularly surrounding technically complex disputes within the construction, infrastructure, and energy sectors. His client base includes contractors, subcontractors, and developers spanning Europe, the GCC, Africa, Central Asia, and North America.
Alexander expressed his enthusiasm for joining the firm, stating that "Browne Jacobson has established strong construction and international arbitration practices, two areas at the heart of my own work, and is pursuing a clear and purposeful growth strategy." He believes the firm possesses the necessary "expertise, platform and ambition to handle the most technically complex disputes", and he looks forward to building on these strengths with the firm's exemplary team. He also emphasised the firm’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as a key factor in his decision to join, noting that "Browne Jacobson’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and to improving social mobility, is widely recognised."
Tim Claremont, Partner and Head of Construction and Engineering at Browne Jacobson, highlighted Alexander’s addition as a pivotal enhancement to their London disputes team. He commented that "Alexander is an outstanding addition to our construction and engineering team, and wider London disputes offering." Tim further elaborated on the necessity of this appointment within a growing construction disputes market, remarking that "the construction disputes market, particularly at the international level, continues to grow in scale and complexity".
The strategic appointment of Alexander forms part of Browne Jacobson’s ongoing investment in bolstering its London disputes capability. This follows the earlier hiring of Bernhard Maier as Head of Arbitration and Danielle Carr as Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution, signifying the firm’s dedication to building a robust platform that can tackle complex, high-value matters for its clientele. Moreover, this initiative reflects a broader goal of fostering interconnected practices throughout the UK and Ireland, allowing the firm to cater to a diverse range of client needs both domestically and internationally.
Declan Cushley, Head of the firm’s London office, remarked on the significance of Alexander’s recruitment, stating that "Alexander’s appointment is yet another high-calibre addition to our London office." He described this initiative as part of a targeted growth strategy aimed at cultivating a team of interconnected experts who can provide comprehensive support for clients facing complex issues across their UK and Ireland operations as well as internationally. Browne Jacobson's determination to expand and enhance its capabilities is evident, paving the way for future successes.
