Government is to launch a new workers' watchdog to tackle modern slavery
A new workers’ watchdog to tackle modern day slavery is to be launched. Government said the “powerful” watchdog will oversee enforcement of minimum wage, protection of agency workers and have a new power to ensure vulnerable workers get holiday pay and statutory sick pay without having to go to the employment tribunal. Law Society president I. Stephanie Boyce said: “The remit, powers and resources made available to the new watchdog will be key in determining whether or not it can achieve its mission.”
