The government has announced new courtroom protection for vulnerable witnesses and victims in all London and Kent crown courts '“ where technology allowing pre-recording of evidence, including cross-examination, has been rolled out. The aim is to avoid the trauma of attending court by giving the option to pre-record evidence as close to the time of the offence as possible, which is then played in court. Government says the new service will be available in every crown court by the end of the year. 24 August 2020
