Tyr expands legal presence in Bristol

Leeds law firm Tyr has launched a Bristol office, aiming to enhance its service offerings in the region
Tyr, the Leeds-based law firm, is making significant strides by opening a new office in the thriving city centre of Bristol. This vibrant city is recognised as one of the largest legal hubs outside London, hosting many renowned UK and international law firms. Additionally, Bristol boasts a flourishing environment for sectors such as technology, creativity, and aviation, drawing various global organisations to set up their operations in the area.
The expansion comes as experienced litigators Darren Kidd and Martin Cox join the firm, bringing distinguished legal backgrounds with them. Prior to joining Tyr, Darren had an impressive tenure at well-respected firms including Herbert Smith Freehills, Stewarts, and Clarke Willmott. Martin, who has closely collaborated with Darren at Stewarts and Clarke Wilmot, also brings valuable experience from Freshfields. Together, they will be focusing on a diverse array of domestic and international commercial disputes, with particular expertise in banking and financial services matters.
Darren expresses his enthusiasm for the new venture by stating, ‘Joining Tyr and launching our Bristol office presents an exciting time for both the firm and the Bristol legal market, and I am very much looking forward to growing Tyr’s premium service in the South West.’ This sentiment is echoed by Alistair Kennedy, a Partner at Tyr, who highlighted the firm’s ambitions with, ‘Opening another office demonstrates the firm’s ambitions and reflects its exceptional work over recent years. Darren and Martin joining Tyr is a first step towards us providing a full service to Bristol and the wider market.’
The official launch of the Bristol office was celebrated with a cocktail reception at Rick’s, a venue overlooking the harbour at The Bristol Hotel. The event witnessed the attendance of leaders from Tyr’s Commercial Property, Corporate, and Commercial Litigation teams alongside other partners, all eager to welcome guests into the Tyr family. Guests enjoyed Tyr-themed cocktails to mark the occasion and network with solicitors, barristers, and local professionals.
As Tyr embarks on this new chapter, the firm is entering its eighth year in business and is well on track to achieve its ambitious ten-year financial goals, further solidifying its reputation as a comprehensive legal service provider across multiple sectors within the UK.
