Talbots Law has experienced an impressive £11m increase in revenue driven by acquisitions and organic growth
Talbots Law, a rapidly expanding Midlands-based law firm, has reported a remarkable revenue growth of £11 million in 2025, bringing its total turnover to £41 million. This surge can be attributed to a combination of strategic acquisitions and robust organic growth across Staffordshire and Shropshire. Talbots Law operates from 19 offices scattered throughout the Black Country, Birmingham, Cheshire, Coventry, Staffordshire, Shropshire, and Worcestershire, positioning itself as a significant player in the legal services landscape.
The firm’s expansion journey began with the acquisition of Onions and Davies, based in Market Drayton, followed by the purchase of Tinsdills Solicitors, a four-office practice with headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent. Tinsdills brought along a £5 million turnover, establishing a perfect match with Talbots’ acquisition strategy and its commitment to employee ownership values. Talbots Law also acquired Benussi & Co, a respected family law practice with a strong presence in Birmingham city centre, which will maintain its standalone brand while integrating into Talbots’ suite of legal services.
Dave Hodgetts, the CEO of Talbots Law, remarked “2025 was a defining year in our recent history, with turnover significantly surpassing our £36m budget.” He indicated a strong pipeline of acquisitions that would either bring a new geographic presence or enhance capabilities in specific legal areas. Hodgetts emphasised the importance of all partners sharing values that focus on delivering trusted legal advice to local clients and businesses through an employee-owned business model.
Talbots Law is also expanding its Business Services team, which focuses on providing commercially driven legal services to businesses and entrepreneurs, helping them to grow and operate effectively. This development is encapsulated in their new strapline ‘Talbots Law: For Law. For Business.’ This growth strategy has been bolstered by a recruitment programme and the establishment of specialist business hubs across seven offices in key locations.
“There has been unprecedented demand for our business services offering in recent years and we’ve recognised this by investing heavily in both our capability and our people,” Dave confirmed. Talbots now boasts over 100 experts skilled in a myriad of business-related legal matters, including areas such as commercial property, business sales, disputes, employment law, and more. This extensive expertise allows the firm to provide a comprehensive business services offering, continually expanded through its specialist Business Hubs, ensuring strong client relationships and exceptional service quality.
In conclusion, Hodgetts added “Alongside growing the team and increasing revenue in this area, we have been recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, underlining the quality of our business services offering.” He acknowledged the changing landscape of the business world, asserting that “the advice we provide has never been more important” amid a backdrop of evolving employment legislation and succession planning needs for many owner-managed firms.
