SBTi has approved Law Firm emissions reduction

WFW commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 70% by 2032 from a 2019 base year. WFW also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 54.6% within the same timeframe.

WFW has worked with global consultancy WSP to verify base year data and establish a roadmap for reducing emissions. The firm’s Carbon Reduction Plan details how the firm plans to reduce its impact in the three key areas of offices, supply chain and travel. The plan includes:

• moving to renewable energy contracts across all offices by 2030 at the latest;
• independent environmental audits across the larger offices;
• an updated Procurement and Supplier Compliance Policy, delivering ESG due diligence and ongoing performance monitoring;
• an updated Business Travel Policy; and
• a Global Environment Charter setting responsibilities and suggested actions for everyone at the firm to help meet objectives.

The SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitions emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focussed on accelerating companies across the world to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.
