Reeds Solicitors confirms new partner promotions

Reeds Solicitors LLP has announced the promotion of Sarah Griffiths-Jones and Sobiah Hussain to partner level
Reeds Solicitors LLP, a prominent national law firm, has unveiled its partner promotions for 2026, highlighting the achievements of two key individuals within the organisation. Sarah Griffiths-Jones, Head of Mental Health Law and Court of Protection, has been elevated to the equity partnership, while Sobiah Hussain, Head of Private Family Law, is promoted to partner effective immediately. These promotions increase the firm's total number of partners to 18, six of whom are equity partners.
Sarah Griffiths-Jones, who will assume her new role on 1 April 2026, has played a crucial role in establishing Reeds’ Court of Protection department in 2019 and overseeing the Mental Health department since 2023. Under her leadership, these departments have evolved into nationally recognised practices, as acknowledged by Chambers and Partners. “I represent clients detained under the Mental Health Act at all levels of security and manage a significant and complex Court of Protection caseload,” Sarah stated. Her expertise extends to applications under Section 21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 relating to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) framework. Additionally, she provides external training for advocacy agencies and judges, enhancing the understanding of legal procedures across the UK.
Sobiah Hussain’s promotion to partner adds to her impressive portfolio, as she drives the Private Family Law department from Reeds’ Oxford office. Having returned to the firm in 2024 after positions at reputable law firms, Sobiah focuses on a diverse range of private family law issues. She advises clients on matters that include divorce, financial arrangements, Sharia law, child-related disputes, Child Arrangements Orders, and domestic abuse, including injunctions.
The announcement of these promotions coincides with Reeds Solicitors' continued growth, which includes the recent launch of its Immigration Law practice and the opening of its Newcastle office, now totalling 21 offices across England and Wales. Managing Partner Jan Matthews remarked, “We are delighted to elevate Sarah Griffiths-Jones to the equity partnership and to welcome Sobiah Hussain to the partnership.” He further noted that these promotions signify the firm’s commitment to nurturing talent, stating that they reflect “the strength of the career progression framework we introduced in 2024.” Matthews pointed out that the framework provides employees with clear objectives and opportunities for professional development through the Reeds Academy, crucial elements for the firm’s ongoing success.
