Record-breaking MD Communications Legal 5K event

The MD Communications Legal 5K attracted 800 runners this year, uniting the legal community for charity
Regent’s Park burst with energy Thursday evening as around 800 legal professionals came together for the record-breaking MD Communications Legal 5K. Despite navigating tube strikes, the participants were determined to push their limits and raise funds for Skylarks, a charity dedicated to supporting children with disabilities and additional needs. Celebrating its third year, this event has become essential in the legal calendar for firms, chambers, and legal suppliers alike.
Slaughter & May retained its title as the fastest law firm, marking their third consecutive victory, while One Essex Court was named fastest chambers. Among individual honours, Alex Lepretré from Blake Morgan clocked an impressive 15:07 to secure the title of fastest male overall, and Deirdre Healy from Slaughter and May achieved the fastest female time at 17:46.
For the first time, awards included categories for fastest chambers and fastest barristers. Clare Wisson from Matrix Chambers made headlines by finishing alongside her seven-week-old baby, adding a personal touch to the event’s narrative.
CEO of MD Communications, Melissa Davis, expressed her joy at the turnout, stating, “It was fantastic to see the legal community out in such numbers - especially given the transport disruption - and bringing so much energy to the third staging of the Legal 5K.” Partner James Hayhurst reflected on its growth, noting, “It’s been brilliant to see the Legal 5K grow year on year and, now in its third year, become a fixture that so many across the profession look forward to.”
The race, which is powered by LGN Wellbeing, enhances health and wellbeing in the legal industry while fostering community spirit and camaraderie. The atmosphere was upbeat as participants warmed up to nostalgic 90s music before embarking on the scenic route through the park, all for a great cause.
