"[W]hichever avenue of legal proceedings take place, it is set to be a hefty price tag for P&O" – Alex Mellis, No5 Barristers' Chambers

Following P&O Ferries’ decision to announce 800 staff redundancies in a group video call, barrister Alex Mellis (No5 Barristers’ Chambers) said the apparent failure to consult affected workers “will likely lead into various avenues of legal proceedings”. Mellis said trade unions may seek a High Court injunction or pursue the company through the Employment Tribunal. Workers may also claim unfair dismissal. Mellis said: “… whichever avenue of legal proceedings take place, it is set to be a hefty price tag for P&O, although one they may well have calculated and decided to take already.”
