New tribunal procedure committee members appointed

The Lord Chancellor has confirmed the appointments of Sanaz Saifolahi, Jennifer McCarthy, and Peace Egbulefu to the Tribunal Procedure Committee, which will enhance legal oversight and governance in this field.
The Lord Chancellor has approved the appointments, for three years, of Sanaz Saifolahi, Jennifer McCarthy, and Peace Egbulefu as members of the Tribunal Procedure Committee. Sanaz Saifolahi’s tenure will begin on 1 June 2026, while Jennifer McCarthy and Peace Egbulefu will commence their roles on 3 July 2026.
Sanaz Saifolahi is known for her expertise as a barrister specialising in immigration, asylum, human rights, and public law. In addition to her legal practice, she provides training on immigration and asylum law. Her credentials include a 2024 appointment as a Legal Aid Review Panel Member for a five-year term. In 2026, Ms Saifolahi was appointed by The Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service as a disciplinary panel member and also sits on the Inns’ Conduct Committee. She has declared no political activity.
Jennifer McCarthy brings over 25 years of experience as a specialist Employment Law Solicitor, representing clients in both the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal. She is also an accredited Mediator, having built her career on navigating complex employment matters. Ms McCarthy has declared no political activity.
Peace Egbulefu is a senior legal professional with more than ten years of experience spanning disputes, civil and criminal procedure, and tribunal practice. She is a qualified Solicitor Advocate and has worked on administrative law, procedural compliance, and complex multi-party proceedings. Her involvement on the Committee will be enhanced by her engagement with digitalisation and initiatives focused on improving access to justice. Ms Egbulefu has declared no political activity.
The Tribunal Procedure Committee (TPC) was established under the Tribunals, Courts, and Enforcement Act 2007 (TCEA) and is tasked with overseeing the rules governing practice and procedures within the First-tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, and Employment Tribunals. All appointments made to this committee are regulated under the TCEA and adhere to the Governance Code on Public Appointments, ensuring robust recruitment processes.
