New Director of Strategy appointed by LSB

The Legal Services Board has appointed Jelena Lentzos as Director of Strategy, Policy & Engagement to enhance legal services regulation and consumer protection at a crucial time for the sector
Jelena will lead the strategy, policy, and research teams, bringing nearly two decades of experience in policy and government roles. Her previous position as Interim Director of Regulation, Policy and Strategy at the LSB equipped her with a deep understanding of the challenges facing the sector.
Richard Orpin, the Chief Executive of LSB, expressed confidence in Jelena’s abilities, stating, "Jelena brings deep policy expertise and a clear understanding of how regulation affects people's lives. Her experience delivering complex change collaboratively across government and with the legal profession makes her exceptionally well placed to lead our strategy and engagement work at this important time." This appointment comes as the LSB aims to sharpen its focus on consumer protection while targeting growth within the sector, preparing to consult on priorities leading up to 2030.
Jelena highlighted the need for adaptation in these rapidly transforming times. She remarked, "The legal services sector is changing rapidly. AI is transforming how services are accessed and delivered, and consumers' needs and expectations of the market are changing." She stressed the potential of these advancements to improve access to justice but also acknowledged the accompanying risks that regulation must address to safeguard consumers.
As she takes on this pivotal role, Jelena is committed to collaborating with regulators, consumers, and other stakeholders to ensure the LSB’s approach fosters a legal services market that is both innovative and protective of consumer interests.
