Government launches consultation on domestic homicide review legislation

The Home Office launched a consultation on 16 June on proposed amendments to the domestic homicide review legislation, otherwise known as the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004, to ensure that it reflects the legal definition of domestic abuse as enacted in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. The public consultation has been instigated by concerns from charities and bereaved families that the current system does not reflect the full range of domestic abuse related deaths. The consultation is open for comments until 11 August 2023.
