Gateley Legal strengthens real estate team
Gateley Legal has bolstered its Birmingham real estate team with the appointment of Daniel Walsh as partner
Gateley Legal has announced the appointment of Daniel Walsh as a partner in its Birmingham office, expanding its real estate team as part of its growth strategy. Walsh comes to Gateley with two decades of experience in various senior roles at CMS, Eversheds Sutherland, and Gowling WLG. His expertise lies in complex, strategic, and high-value development and investment transactions across all real estate asset classes, particularly focusing on large-scale logistics schemes and urban regeneration initiatives.
Walsh will join a proficient commercial development team in Birmingham, which already includes esteemed partners Richard Pettifor, Ray Simpson, and Chris Adams. His addition is significant for Gateley Legal as it aims to reaffirm its position as a market leader in the logistics sector throughout the Midlands. Recent research from Savills has illustrated a resilient commercial development market in the Midlands, highlighting steady occupier demand and optimistic growth forecasts, despite broader economic uncertainties.
Rebecca Sherwin, partner and national head of real estate at Gateley, expressed her enthusiasm about Walsh joining the team, stating "Daniel brings great knowledge and experience to the team and expands our development and logistics expertise within the Midlands." She emphasised that the region still sees a robust pipeline of commercial development activity and noted that with multiple partners in the Birmingham office concentrating on this sector, Gateley is well-equipped to support its clients during their growth phases.
In his own words, Walsh reflected on his new role, saying "It’s great to have joined such an established development team, particularly one which has a strong track record of supporting logistics developer clients, which is an important part of my practice." He has spent most of his career in Birmingham and aims to further enhance his experience with large-scale development projects there. "Having met the team, I’m confident that Gateley Legal provides a strong platform and it’s great to be joining the business at such an exciting time," he added.
Gateley Legal’s real estate division operates from several locations, including Birmingham, London, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, and Belfast. The firm’s experts cover all facets of commercial property development and real estate finance transactions, catering to both national and regional developers. With Walsh on board, the team is set to advance its capabilities in meeting client needs across the dynamic Midlands real estate landscape.
