Flint Bishop appoints new CFO for growth

Flint Bishop has appointed Mark Johnson as CFO to strengthen its financial strategy and support expansion efforts
Flint Bishop has recently made a significant addition to its executive leadership team by appointing Mark Johnson as Chief Financial Officer. This move comes on the heels of a record £43 million financial year, underscoring the firm's commitment to bolstering its growth trajectory. Johnson joins Flint Bishop with a wealth of experience, having previously served at Browne Jacobson, where he was instrumental in expanding revenue from £70 million to £130 million over five years while implementing disciplined financial strategies to enhance profitability.
With more than 15 years of expertise in the legal and financial services sectors, Johnson embodies the characteristics of a modern CFO. He boasts a unique blend of technical knowledge, strategic insight, and commercial acumen. His professional history includes pivotal roles in financial planning and analysis at globally recognised organisations such as Equifax, Experian, and Capital One. At Flint Bishop, Johnson will spearhead the financial strategy, concentrating on enabling growth, enhancing financial performance, and creating a highly accountable finance function that looks to the future.
Collaboration with the executive team will be crucial for Johnson as he shapes investment decisions that support national expansion and acquisitions while improving financial governance across the firm. A significant focus of his role will also involve modernising the finance function through technology, providing leadership with timely data, improved forecasting accuracy, and enhanced performance visibility.
Qamer Ghafoor, Chief Executive of Flint Bishop, noted that “Mark is exactly the calibre of CFO we need at this stage in our journey. He brings a rare combination of commercial acumen, strategic clarity and a proven ability to scale organisations at pace. His focus on data-led decision-making, financial discipline and transformation will be instrumental as we continue to grow nationally and invest in the future of the firm.”
In response, Johnson expressed his enthusiasm for joining Flint Bishop, stating that “Flint Bishop has built a strong platform for growth and has clear ambition for the future. I am excited to be joining a business that is not only scaling, but doing so with a clear strategic focus. The role of the modern CFO goes far beyond reporting, it is about driving performance, enabling confident decision-making and ensuring the business has the financial insight and discipline to succeed at scale. I look forward to working with the leadership team to deliver sustainable growth, strengthen financial performance and build a best-in-class, technology-enabled finance function.”
