Fieldfisher expands regulatory team with new partner

Fieldfisher has appointed Peter Hood to its regulatory team in London, enhancing cross-border compliance expertise and support for clients navigating complex challenges

Leading European law firm Fieldfisher is pleased to announce that Peter Hood will join its Regulatory team as a partner in London, starting on 1 June 2026. Peter, who comes from King & Spalding, brings extensive experience in public international law, geopolitical disputes, sustainability, contentious sanctions, and business and human rights. His arrival marks a strategic investment in the firm's Regulatory practice, reinforcing its capacity to assist clients in overcoming intricate cross-border regulatory challenges.

Peter has a proven track record of advising multinational companies on supply chain risk, sustainability compliance, and regulatory frameworks. He has also represented individuals, states, and corporations in high-profile disputes before UK, EU, and international courts. His past roles include serving as a legal adviser at the UK Foreign Office, where he addressed issues involving sanctions, trade agreements, and human rights litigation.

Notable recent achievements include successfully representing Hala Almaghout in her annulment application at the General Court of the European Union concerning her designation under the EU-Syria sanctions regime, advising a state regarding proceedings at the International Court of Justice and International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea about international legal obligations relating to climate change, and representing the Government of Ukraine in inter-state cases at the European Court of Human Rights concerning the occupation of Crimea and the Donbas.

Peter’s addition is particularly significant for strengthening Fieldfisher's cross-EU regulatory capabilities. His experience in advising multinational clients on emerging EU legislation aligns seamlessly with the firm’s international platform and the increasing client demand for multi-jurisdictional advice.

Fieldfisher's Regulatory lawyers handle some of the most prominent cases and investigations across the UK and Europe, providing guidance on a wide array of trade, sanctions, antitrust, and regulatory matters in both contentious and advisory contexts. Peter joins the firm alongside disputes heavyweight Richard Power, who recently transitioned from Clyde & Co. Richard's focus on complex international disputes, arbitration, and energy-related matters complements Peter's expertise in public international law, sanctions, sustainability, and geopolitical risk, promising valuable synergies.

John Cassels, Partner and Head of the European Regulatory Practice Group at Fieldfisher noted that Peter’s expertise "sits at the intersection of regulatory, disputes and international law, which is exactly where we are seeing increasing client demand. His arrival strengthens our depth in key areas such as sanctions and business and human rights, while further enhancing our ability to deliver a coordinated European service."

Expressing his enthusiasm, Peter Hood remarked that "Fieldfisher’s strong European network and established regulatory practice provide an excellent platform to grow a truly integrated, cross-border offering. I’m particularly excited to leverage the firm’s presence across Europe and innovative approach to AI to support multinational clients to navigate the increasingly complex EU regulatory and enforcement landscape, particularly in relation to sustainability and sanctions."
