DOMESTIC ABUSE

By

The Domestic Abuse Bill will form part of the Queen's Speech, prime minister Boris Johnson has confirmed. The bill was set to have obliged councils to support survivors of domestic abuse in accommodation-based services, backed by a government promise of 'funding to place services on a sustainable footing'. The legislation fell away when parliament was prorogued, but Johnson said on Twitter: 'We are fully committed to tackling this horrific crime [domestic abuse] '“ which is why the Queen's Speech will confirm we will be reintroducing domestic abuse legislation in the next session.' 13 September 2019
