CMS has appointed Christy Farrer as its first Chief Operating Officer, effective from 21 May 2026
CMS UK LLP has announced Christy Farrer as its inaugural Chief Operating Officer. Farrer will spearhead the firm's operational strategy across its international offices, collaborating closely with the leadership team to bolster the business services platform. Her focus will be on cultivating a high-performing, AI-enabled, and integrated global team while enhancing support for clients, partners, and colleagues in various markets.
With seven years at CMS, Christy has significantly contributed to developing the firm’s practice management function. Previously, she held the title of Chief Strategy & Practice Management Officer, where she was instrumental in designing and executing the firmwide strategy alongside leading practice group and regional business management. Her extensive experience spans strategy, operations, transformation, and leadership in professional services.
Prior to joining CMS, Farrer served in senior roles within the legal sector, including chief executive at a prominent UK barristers’ chambers and director overseeing legal and professional services operations throughout EMEA. Additional senior strategy roles at the Law Society and DAC Beachcroft further cement her credentials in the field.
Adrian Bell, Managing Partner at CMS UK, expressed his confidence in Farrer’s capabilities, stating “Christy has already made a valuable contribution to CMS, particularly in the development of our practice management capability and in helping to shape and deliver our firmwide strategy.” He recognised the new COO role as vital for enhancing the firm's operational structure and ensuring a consistent delivery for clients and staff alike. Bell concluded, “Christy brings exactly the combination of strategic insight and operational discipline that this role demands.”
Expressing her enthusiasm about her new position, Christy noted, “I am delighted to take on this role at such an important time for CMS. This is a firm I know well and care deeply about, and I look forward to working alongside Adrian and the wider leadership team to ensure our operational foundations match our ambition.” Her commitment focuses on leveraging the firm's strengths to enable all employees to perform at their highest potential.
As a member firm of CMS, CMS UK provides advisory services from over 20 offices across the UK, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Farrer’s role as COO illustrates the extensive scope of the LLP's operations, which encompasses both the UK domestic practice and wider cross-border activities.
