CMA takes action against supermarkets to combat anti-competitive land agreements

Agreements have been secured with Sainsbury's and Asda
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced on 13 June that it has taken action to combat the use of unlawful anti-competitive land agreements by supermarkets to restrict land being used by their rivals. Agreements have been secured with Sainsbury’s and Asda, which the CMA found were in breach of the Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010. The action is part of the CMA’s activities to protect competition between businesses and choice for supermarket customers.
