Clarion enhances financial litigation team

National law firm Clarion has appointed Matt Dibb as Partner to boost its financial litigation capabilities and expand expertise within the financial services sector
Matt Dibb returns to Clarion, where he commenced his legal career as a trainee, after gaining considerable experience at Addleshaw Goddard. His background includes extensive work in financial litigation, regulatory disputes, and in-house roles with major international banks, equipping him with a nuanced understanding of the complex, multi-jurisdictional challenges faced by financial institutions.
Dibb's career also features offshore experience and collaborations with multinational corporations and high-net-worth individuals, providing him with a comprehensive perspective on the legal and commercial hurdles present in diverse markets. At Clarion, he will spearhead the development of the firm’s financial litigation disputes offering while consolidating expertise from various teams to provide a more streamlined service for clients. This effort is intended to bridge strengths within Clarion and create additional collaborative opportunities throughout the firm.
His diverse specialisation encompasses banking and asset finance disputes, fraud, professional negligence, and trust disputes, enabling Clarion to advise clients across multiple sectors effectively. As the financial services market undergoes substantial changes, highlighted by the rise of challenger banks and specialist lenders, Dibb's experience will be crucial in guiding clients through contentious disputes, complex regulatory landscapes, and advisory matters.
With established client relationships as a foundation, Dibb will initially concentrate on enhancing current projects, nurturing client relations, and scaling the service aligned with Clarion's broader ambitions. His role is expected to foster connections between Clarion's financial regulatory expertise and other practice areas, such as property, contributing to a cohesive strategy addressing client challenges.
Dibb's appointment highlights Clarion's strong culture and its capacity to retain talented professionals, as several senior colleagues from his trainee days are still with the firm. This move marks a significant step in Clarion's ongoing growth journey, reflecting its commitment to investing in experienced legal talent and enhancing its specialist capabilities in becoming a premier independent law firm.
Commenting on his return, Dibb said “Returning to Clarion feels like a full circle moment. It’s great to come back to where I started my legal career and bring the experience I’ve gained since then. Clarion has grown significantly, with some fantastic clients and teams, and it has been an easy transition back into the business. The firm is incredibly well regarded both nationally and locally, and I’m looking forward to helping build on its growth and developing the financial regulatory offering further”
