Agiloft's Kristin Knox Esche leads legal evolution

Kristin Knox Esche is spearheading Agiloft's legal transformation, leveraging her extensive experience to shape future operations
Kristin Knox Esche, General Counsel at Agiloft, brings a wealth of experience in modernising legal functions. Previously at Mitsubishi HC Capital America, she was pivotal in centralising their legal operations after a period of rapid growth, establishing the first eBilling and matter management system. This initiative laid the groundwork for integrating contract lifecycle management (CLM) directly into the financial origination system. Esche unified template management processes that had traditionally been scattered across various systems and repositories.
Her notable career also includes over ten years at Deere & Company, where she initially contributed to Crop Harvesting Engineering. Later, she played a significant role in the Office of the Corporate Secretary, focusing on SEC reporting, corporate governance, and capital market transactions. As Associate Chief Counsel for Product & Innovation at John Deere Financial, she was instrumental in the legal and compliance workstream that facilitated the company’s shift towards agile product development. Additionally, she helped to establish Deere's AI governance working group following the launch of ChatGPT.
Eric Laughlin, Chief Executive Officer at Agiloft, remarked "Kristin has sat on the other side of the table from us as the legal leader actually living with the contracting problems we build software to solve." He further emphasised her invaluable experience, stating "She has run legal operations inside companies going through real change: mergers, agile transformations, the early days of generative AI inside a legal department. That's exactly the perspective we want shaping our own legal function and informing how we build for customers like her."
Esche expressed her enthusiasm for joining Agiloft, stating "I've spent my career translating complexity into clarity, whether that meant standing on a factory floor with engineers or designing the operating model for a unified legal department after periods of rapid inorganic growth." She noted that her diverse range of experiences aligns well with Agiloft's objectives, adding "What drew me to Agiloft is that every part of that experience finally points the same direction. I have been the customer this company builds for, and I am looking forward to helping shape what comes next, both inside Agiloft and for its customers."
Esche holds a J.D. from UC Law San Francisco, an M.A. in Women's Studies from The Ohio State University, and a B.A. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego. She is also committed to accessibility in the legal field, serving on the Iowa Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission and engaging in pro bono work.
Agiloft continues to redefine contract lifecycle management as a global leader in the space. Its innovative no-code CLM platform, enhanced with AI capabilities, streamlines and automates contract processes, offering real-time visibility through integration with over 1,000 systems.
