Withers continues building on commercial real estate strengths with new property disputes partner

By

International law firm Withers has added to its newly expanded commercial real estate practice with the arrival of partner Owen Talfan Davies.

Owen joins the firm from Fieldfisher, where he was a senior equity partner in the real estate disputes team and has over 20 years’ experience as a real estate litigation specialist. Owen acts on the full gamut of property disputes, including landlord and tenant disputes, and is recognised for his market leading work on the use of pre-emptive injunctive relief to protect land. He also specialises in professional negligence, insolvency and fraud related matters in the real estate sector. Owen frequently provides strategic transactional support to pre-empt and avoid potential areas of dispute. His clients include major corporates, family offices, and financial institutions.

Over the last decade, Owen has consistently been recognised by legal directories as a ‘leading individual’ in his specialist area, and he is also recommended by the directories for his work on property related professional negligence cases.

Owen's arrival at Withers follows closely on the hire of a commercial real estate transactions team from Charles Russell Speechlys in December 2022. The team included partners Simon Ewing and Ruby Dalal, consultant Eleanor Newton and associate Vanessa Jones and focuses on commercial property investment and other high value transactions.

Jeremy Wakeham, head of Withers' Business division and commercial real estate partner, comments: "Owen is a fantastic addition to our growing commercial real estate team, with a great reputation for providing practical, effective solutions to resolve complex disputes. Owen's addition enhances the ability of our new-look team to represent private capital clients in all aspects of their property interests."

Owen adds: "Withers has really invested in developing its commercial property group to offer clients every service they need to successfully manage and protect their real estate interests. I'm really excited to join the real estate team to be part of this this time of growth and to bring my experience of strategic dispute resolution advice to the firm's client base."

Withers' global Real Estate team operates across the firm's office network and is recognised in the UK for its work with closely-held business and private capital clients across the full range of property asset classes and for providing a truly integrated service.
