Walkers, a leading law firm, has announced the appointment of Simon Hurry as a partner in their Insolvency & Dispute Resolution team based in Jersey. His impressive track record includes appearances before the courts of Jersey and the Cayman Islands at all levels, even reaching the Privy Council, and he is widely acknowledged for his expertise in complex dispute resolution matters.
Notably, Simon is the first lawyer in the Channel Islands to be honoured as an INSOL Fellow. He joins a team spearheaded by partner Nigel Sanders, together with fellow partners Fraser Hern, Richard Holden, Marc Seddon, and James Turnbull. Nigel expressed his enthusiasm for Simon's arrival, stating that “Simon’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to providing clients with market-leading expertise in complex disputes and insolvency matters. His reputation, experience and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our team and to our clients across jurisdictions.”
In addition to this sentiment, Nigel highlighted that “We are delighted to welcome Simon to our growing Insolvency & Dispute Resolution team in Jersey. His arrival adds further depth and capability to our partnership bench.” Reacting to the opportunity, Simon shared his excitement, stating “I’m delighted to be joining Walkers’ Insolvency & Dispute Resolution team in Jersey. The firm’s reputation for excellence and its collaborative culture made this an easy decision. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to deliver outstanding results for our clients.”
Before his tenure at Walkers, Simon was a partner in the insolvency and corporate disputes team at a different offshore firm in the Cayman Islands. He previously led the Jersey insolvency and corporate disputes team there as well. His appointment is part of Walkers' strategic growth in the Channel Islands, which also includes the recent recruitment of two other partners, Investment Funds & Corporate specialists Simon Hopwood and Gareth Morgan.
