Tristan Ward joins Birketts as a Partner, enhancing its agriculture team in London and Sevenoaks
Tristan Ward, a renowned specialist in landed estates and agricultural law, has joined UK Top 50 law firm Birketts as a Partner within its agriculture team. He is set to operate from both the London and Sevenoaks offices. With nearly 30 years of experience in advising high net worth clients on various real estate matters, particularly in the rural and agricultural property sectors, his appointment is a strategic move for the firm. For the past 20 years, Tristan has consistently been ranked in the Chambers UK Guide and he holds a unique advantage having served as a partner in his family’s farming business for 14 years. This not only adds depth to his expertise but also strengthens his connections within the Kent farming community.
Tristan’s arrival marks an important expansion for Birketts’ South East agriculture team, which is now comprised of six legal professionals under the leadership of Adam Burden. Furthermore, his addition brings the firm’s total number of Partners in the agriculture sector to ten, reinforcing its capabilities in providing top-tier legal counsel.
Chris Coupland, Partner and Head of Agriculture at Birketts, expressed enthusiasm about Tristan’s joining, saying “I am excited to welcome Tristan to our agriculture team. His hands-on farming knowledge and years of experience in advising landed estates and agricultural clients on property matters in London and across the country make him the perfect addition to our market-leading team.” He emphasised that Tristan's strong contacts and reputation within the London market are crucial for enhancing Birketts' presence in the City, and he is eager to collaborate with him to expand their practice.
In response to his appointment, Tristan remarked “I am very pleased to be joining Birketts, a firm that, with its strength in depth in this exciting practice area, really understands the rural community.” He expressed his eagerness to support Adam in developing the South-East team and to broaden Birketts' reach into London, thereby reinforcing the firm’s commitment to servicing its clientele in the agricultural sector.
