Thackray Williams hires dual-qualified attorney

Thackray Williams has enhanced its employment law team with Alexandra Hubbard, a dual-qualified solicitor and attorney and her expertise benefits international clientele
Leading South East law firm Thackray Williams has strengthened its employment law team with the appointment of Alexandra Hubbard, a solicitor and dual UK-US qualified attorney. With a robust background in supporting organisations to develop compliant and productive work cultures, her joining allows Thackray Williams to gain a deeper insight into the complexities faced by international companies navigating the employment landscape. Emma Thompson, Co-Managing Partner and Head of Employment and Education, stated “Many of our corporate clients have offices in the US and therefore have to be compliant with both English and American employment law. Having Alexandra on board means we have a broader perspective on the employment issues that can arise for organisations with an international footprint, helping us ask the right questions, spot potential cross-border considerations early and work with clients to shape practical, commercially focused solutions.”
Expressing her enthusiasm for the role, Alexandra said “I’m excited to join Thackray Williams – it’s a great team with a fantastic culture and an interesting mix of clients. I’m looking forward to making a positive difference for business owners and managers by helping them create positive, attractive cultures.” After graduating with distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law, she dedicated six years to practicing in the Mid-West, working with a diverse range of clients, from individuals to businesses, on various employment law issues.
Her journey brought her to the UK, where she completed an LLM at Durham University, also graduating with distinction. This led to her admission to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales earlier this year, enabling her to practice law both in the UK and Nebraska. Reflecting on her move, she shared, “I love England and knew that I wanted to live and work here. I’ve lived in London in the past while studying. I think London is one of the best cities in the world, but you still have access to the sea and the countryside, and I enjoy the easy access to traveling in the UK and mainland Europe.”
Surprisingly, she even shared her fondness for the British weather, stating “I even like the weather! English people are always surprised when I say that, but Nebraska has real extremes, so I appreciate the milder climate.” Thompson remarked on the significance of having Alexandra join their team, claiming "Employment law is the fastest growing sector within Thackray Williams so it’s great that Alexandra has chosen to build her career in the UK with us." She emphasised their aim to provide legal expertise on par with larger City law firms while maintaining an attractive fee structure alongside exemplary customer service.
Thompson elaborated on the firm’s expanding influence, noting “Add into that our areas of niche expertise, such as education and neurodiversity, and we are attracting increasing instructions from both individuals and organisations – from SMEs to schools and large multinationals – meaning both more work and more complex work.” With Alexandra’s arrival, Thackray Williams is poised to further enhance its reputation and service offerings in the dynamic field of employment law.
