Strengthening partnerships to combat economic crime

To combat economic crime, Companies House plans to enhance collaboration with key partners for effective enforcement
In a concerted effort to foster an environment that supports economic growth, Companies House is emphasising the importance of collaboration with key partners. Martin Swain, Director of Intelligence and Law Enforcement Engagement at Companies House, articulated the necessity of these partnerships, asserting that "collaboration with key partners such as the Insolvency Service, in helping us improve compliance and prevent misuse of the Companies House register, is central to our enforcement approach." He further noted, “We already work closely with these partners in tackling misuse and – as we are now demonstrating – delivering real-world impacts in the fight against economic crime.”
The commitment to bolstering partnerships reflects an ethos of working together to enhance compliance and deter fraudulent activities that undermine economic stability. As Companies House seeks to improve its regulatory framework, the ongoing collaboration with bodies like the Insolvency Service will play a pivotal role. Swain expressed optimism about the future, stating, “I’m delighted that moving forward these links will be strengthened further.” This approach illustrates a proactive stance in the ongoing battle against economic crime, aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the UK's corporate landscape.
