The budget boost for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and Crown Prosecution Service is 'a drop in the ocean in budgetary terms and will only go so far in restoring a justice system which is falling apart', according to Bar Council chair, Richard Atkins QC. Chancellor Sajid Javid announced a 4.9 per cent increase in the MoJ's resources budget for 2020-2021 and a 12.4 per cent budget increase for law officers. 5 September 2019 GREEN LAW An online qualification in 'green law' has been launched by the University of Birmingham. The new online LLM in Energy and Environmental Law will be taught through the Birmingham Law School. It aims to give qualified lawyers '“ or those working in the sector '“ the opportunity to respond to local and global environmental challenges. Developed in collaboration with Wiley Education Services, the new online LLM is the first fully online postgraduate degree to be delivered through the law school. It will receive its first intake of students in March 2020. 10 September 2019
