The number of solicitors taking silk has fallen for the second year in a row according to the latest list of Queen's Counsel (QC), published on10 January. Of the 108 lawyers to be made Queen's Counsel this year, four of them were solicitor advocates; White & Case partners Dipen Sabharwal and Aloke Ray, Allen & Overy partner Mark Levy and principal at international law specialists Fietta LLP Stephen Lewis. Six solicitors made silk in 2017 and that number fell to five last year.
