The Chancellor could face legal action for sex discrimination in relation to the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) by campaign group Pregnant Then Screwed. It says the eligibility conditions and calculation method under SEISS, introduced this April, are discriminatory against women as they do not exempt periods of maternity leave. Its arguments include that the calculation clause violates Article 14 and breaches section 9 of the Equality Act 2010. The group says 69,200 of women are affected and called for immediate reform. 10 June 2020
