SCAM ALERTS

Between April and June this year, the SRA issued 83 scam alerts including 32 alerts relating to the use of fake emails and phishing. Several emails have been sent out falsely claiming to be from genuine firms of solicitors, sometimes using subtle changes to the name after intercepting a genuine email. One email was sent by criminals misusing the name 'Linklaters' with a subsequent email being sent from a domain name @Liinklaters.com. Current scams also involve the creation of bogus websites in the name of law firms. 8 July 2019
