Penningtons Manches Cooper boosts medical negligence team

Leading law firm Penningtons Manches Cooper has strengthened its medical negligence practice with the appointment of Robert Dransfield as a partner in their London office
Robert, who joins from Stewarts where he was a medical negligence partner from 2007 to 2025, is set to focus on complex and high-value medical negligence claims. His extensive experience includes major spinal cord injury and cauda equina syndrome claims and he has worked on cases valued over £1 million involving brain injuries, oncology, infections, and amputations.
Renowned in the field, Robert is a specialist panel member of Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and an Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) practitioner. Both Legal 500 and Chambers UK recommend him, featuring descriptions such as 'an exceptional individual' and 'a master tactician, always one step ahead'. His addition comes at a time when the firm is poised for growth, forecasting a 10% increase in turnover for the 2025/26 financial year.
Philippa Luscombe, who leads the personal injury and medical negligence team of over 40 specialists at Penningtons Manches Cooper, commented on the significance of Robert's role, saying "This is an important strategic appointment as we look to further enhance the capability of our London medical negligence practice, particularly in high value work and the delivery of exceptional client care".
