Paul Ridout’s passing is a great loss

The Partners of HCR Law have announced with deep sadness the unexpected death of their colleague, leading healthcare legal expert Paul Ridout. Paul’s firm Ridouts, known for its healthcare regulatory expertise, joined HCR Law in 2024. Colleagues and many in the industry viewed Paul as a titan, acknowledging his significant impact on the evolution of the UK's health and social care sector from a legal perspective. Having spent over 50 years advising care providers, regulators, developers, and funders, Paul shared his unparalleled insight through textbooks and industry articles, continuing his full-time work at HCR Law up until his passing. He was instrumental in the creation and evolution of a key regulatory area, having trained regulators and guided providers through decades of change. As a pivotal figure in one of the most heavily regulated sectors in the UK, his contributions were immense. HCR Law will share a full tribute to Paul in the coming days, while all Partners and staff extend their deepest sympathy to his daughter, family, friends, and colleagues
