NLIS grants On Point Data access to official conveyancing search data, enhancing efficiency in nationwide conveyancing and property transactions

On February 1, 2024, Land Data, the regulator for the National Land Information Service (NLIS), announced the awarding of an NLIS channel license to On Point Data Ltd. This development marks a significant step forward for On Point Data, an organization providing conveyancing and search solutions nationwide, allowing them access to official conveyancing search data from various authorities.

NLIS remains the largest aggregator of official searches, constituting approximately 40% of the official searches market in the UK. It stands out as the sole regulated searches portal, prioritizing data security, assurance, and provenance. With the new license, On Point Data gains direct access to official conveyancing search data from Local Authorities in England and Wales, Thames Water, the Coal Authority, and HM Land Registry.

Fiona Barron, Land Data Chief Executive, expressed enthusiasm for the continued growth of NLIS. She emphasized NLIS' role as an essential part of the UK's national data infrastructure, delivering authoritative searches to conveyancing solicitors. The platform, established in 2001, has completed nearly 27 million searches and remains a trusted entity in the industry.

Jeremy Dorkins and Kevin Johnson, Co-Founders of On Point Data, released a joint statement, highlighting their commitment to delivering high standards of service and support to customers. They see the NLIS partnership as a significant step, emphasizing the importance of data provenance and security sourced directly from Local Authorities. The collaboration aims to streamline property transactions, minimizing complications and maximizing speed.

Nick Dyoss, NLIS Hub Director, emphasized that security and reliability remain top priorities in delivering trusted services. The new contract offers On Point Data customers benefits such as a quick, automated payment system, an experienced helpdesk, and a fully regulated service with monitored turnaround times.

Land Data encourages companies involved in the property searches market to apply for an NLIS Channel license to operate as regulated providers of official search data. Interested parties can contact NewChannels@land-data.org.uk.

On Point Data becoming the 5th licensed channel in the NLIS network alongside existing providers marks a pivotal moment in enhancing efficiency and reliability in conveyancing services. The collaboration is poised to contribute to a streamlined and secure process for property transactions, reinforcing NLIS's reputation as a trusted and regulated platform in the land and property searches market.
