New leadership for Lawscot Foundation

Christine McLintock steps down after a decade as Chair, propelling Kay McCorquodale and Debbie McIlwraith Cameron into leadership roles
Christine McLintock, co-founder and inaugural Chair of the Lawscot Foundation, is stepping down after ten years of dedicated service, highlighting a significant transition for the charity as it marks its 10th anniversary. In her absence, the Foundation will now be led by Kay McCorquodale, a retired solicitor who has served as a trustee since October 2023. Debbie McIlwraith Cameron, currently the Director of Charities and Third Sector at Lindsays, will support McCorquodale as Vice-Chair. Having joined the Board as a trustee in January 2024, Cameron has been involved in the Foundation since its inception in 2016.
McLintock expressed her pride in leading the Foundation, stating “It has been a huge honour to lead the Lawscot Foundation and to see the lives of so many aspiring lawyers changed for the better because of our work.” She sees this pivotal moment, with the charity’s 10th birthday approaching, as the right time for her to step aside, reassuring that “The Foundation remains in excellent hands under the new leadership team of Kay and Debbie.”
McCorquodale, reflecting on her new role, acknowledged McLintock's vast contributions, saying “On behalf of the Board and current and former Foundation scholars, I’d like to thank Christine for her enormous contribution to the charity and wider legal sector.” Understanding the challenges faced by those from less privileged backgrounds, McCorquodale added, “As the first and only member of my family to attend university, I appreciate how much the Foundation’s help means for the talented young people it supports.”
Cameron also shared her enthusiasm for her new position, remarking “I jumped at the chance to step into this newly created role of Vice-Chair and am looking forward to working with Kay and the other trustees to continue opening opportunities regardless of postcode or circumstances.”
The new leadership team will officially begin their roles on 18 May 2026, embarking on a mission to further the Foundation’s commitment to widening access to the legal profession for students facing socioeconomic barriers.
