New free course enhances legal wellbeing

LawCare has launched a free online course dedicated to promoting healthier work environments within the legal sector
LawCare has introduced a new free online course titled Supporting legal workplace wellbeing to assist individuals tasked with fostering healthier and more supportive working environments in the legal sector. Designed for managers, team leaders, wellbeing leads, and human resources professionals, the course offers practical advice for creating workplaces where individuals feel supported and able to communicate openly. The course is flexible, allowing participants to complete it at their own pace. Supporting legal workplace wellbeing is the third course in the Fit for Law series, a collaboration between LawCare and academics from the University of Sheffield and The Open University, aimed at promoting healthier psychological and emotional working practices among legal professionals.
Trish McLellan, Interim CEO of LawCare, stated "We know from our support service and Life in the Law 2025 research that workplace culture and the way people are managed can have a big impact on wellbeing." She added, "Many people want to support colleagues, have better conversations and create healthier ways of working, but aren’t always sure where to start. This course is designed to help them do that.” Dr Emma Jones, Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield and a LawCare Trustee, highlighted that “Many individuals within the legal sector are involved in supporting workplace wellbeing," explaining that while this is often part of their roles, legal workplaces frequently do not prioritize adequate resources or training for such efforts. She emphasised that the new Fit for Law course aims to offer evidence-informed practical support to empower individuals and instigate positive change within their organisations.
