The Ministry of Justice published details on new changes to family legal aid, which came into force on 1 March 2023, in order to extend the means of legal aid in some family law cases. The changes relate to the providing of evidence in domestic abuse cases; a public family law change that will see the scope of the means free legal aid being extended for both parents and those with parental responsibilities; and new rules affecting the scope of family legal aid in relation to special guardianship orders for family private law proceedings.
