Anna Wood of Michelmores has been named Chair of the JCT Drafting Sub-Committee, starting July 2026

Michelmores has announced that Anna Wood, a Partner and Head of Construction, has been appointed as Chair of the Joint Contracts Tribunal's Drafting Sub-Committee. Her appointment will take effect in July 2026 and underscores her reputation in the construction sector as well as her vast experience in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. In her role as Chair, she will lead the team responsible for developing and updating the JCT's suite of standard form construction contracts that play a pivotal role across the UK construction industry. With an estimated £90-£100 billion worth of construction work relying on JCT contracts each year, this position holds significant importance.

“I am delighted to take on the role of Chair of the JCT Drafting Sub-Committee at a time when the construction industry continues to navigate significant legal, commercial and regulatory change,” Anna Wood remarked. She emphasised the centrality of JCT contracts in facilitating successful project delivery and her eagerness to collaborate with the Sub-Committee to keep the contracts clear, relevant and fit for purpose.

Leading Michelmores' Construction team, Anna advises a diverse range of clients including developers, employers, contractors and consultants on numerous projects across the UK. Recognised for her pragmatic and commercial approach, she adeptly navigates complex legal issues within the built environment sector.

“Anna’s appointment to this important role is a testament to her expertise and leadership within the construction sector,” commented Andrew Baines, Head of Michelmores’ Specialist Real Estate team. He expressed pride in her contribution to the development of JCT contracts that underpin many construction projects throughout the UK. Anna Wood's leadership at JCT is anticipated to positively influence the evolving landscape of the construction industry in the years to come.
