Martin Searle Solicitors host charity walk

Martin Searle Solicitors are set to hold their third annual sponsored walk for Grassroots Suicide Prevention on 11 September 2026 to honour those lost to suicide and raise awareness of mental health issues
The ‘Dawn of Hope’ walk, which commences at the Peace Statue on Brighton Seafront at 6am, is an initiative spearheaded by Office Manager Amy O’Shea. She founded this event in 2024 following her own personal experiences with suicide, and it has since evolved into a significant annual fundraiser to support the life-saving efforts of Grassroots Suicide Prevention. This year, Martin Searle Solicitors cordially invites local businesses and community members to participate and contribute to an increasingly vital cause.
The walk serves as a poignant reminder of those we have lost, while providing support to individuals grappling with mental health challenges. As walkers make their way along the beautiful Brighton beach towards the Marina, those who wish to join at the Palace Pier are encouraged to arrive by 6.15am. Participants will be rewarded at the end of the walk with complimentary hot drinks and pastries provided by the firm at Malmaison, with a gathering to follow by 7am.
During the event, a representative from Grassroots Suicide Prevention will articulate the significance of their work, shedding light on how donations facilitate essential education and support in the community. Those unable to attend can still contribute by donating to Martin Searle Solicitors’ JustGiving page specifically set up to support Grassroots.
Fiona Martin, Director and Head of Employment Law, expresses the firm’s commitment to this cause, saying “We will continue supporting the vital work that Grassroots Suicide Prevention carry out. Sadly, suicide rates are increasing and yet it is still difficult to speak about this openly.” She adds that as a campaigning law firm, they leverage their actions to address causes important to their staff, clients, and the wider community.
Echoing this sentiment, Ben Baxter, Senior Fundraising and Partnerships Manager from Grassroots Suicide Prevention states, “Suicide is not inevitable and, in most cases, preventable. With the amazing support from Martin Searle Solicitors, the Dawn of Hope walk will raise awareness and break down the stigma of suicide.” He highlights the event as an opportunity to remember loved ones while also demonstrating that hope and recovery are possible.
Participation in the upcoming 'Dawn of Hope' walk is encouraged, and interested individuals can sign up through the provided links.
