Law firms may want to consider joining a free webinar on cyber security for firms under lockdown running from 11am on Tuesday 28 April.

The webinar, Securing a Remote Workforce for Law Firms, will focus on the cyber risks for firms under lockdown at a time when lawyers and staff are working remotely.

Last week, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) warned firms to be extra vigilant in light of an increase in reports of cyber attacks against businesses where staff are remote working.

The webinar will include a legal cyber crime case study and look at the evolving threat landscape; how to effectively identify and manage the risks; and practical steps firms should take.

The webinar is being run by leading cyber security firm Bleam Cyber Security which supports solicitors’ firms.

The speakers will include Peter Wright of Digital Law and author of the Law Society Cyber Security Toolkit, West Yorkshire Police’s force protect delivery officer PC Rob Cowgill and security specialist Chris Murray at Bleam Cyber Security.

Wright said: “The webinar offers an opportunity to hear from law enforcement dealing with preventing cyber attacks in the face of the massive increase in attacks that businesses across the economy have sustained during the lockdown.”

He said specialists will talk about the “systems available to defend firms as well as how to identify risk and demonstrate compliance and best practice to regulators".
