Leading EU and competition lawyer Neil Warwick OBE joins Knights, boosting the firm's North East growth strategy

Knights, a prominent UK law firm, has welcomed Neil Warwick OBE, a renowned EU and competition law expert, as a partner in its Newcastle upon Tyne office. Neil's specialization in competition law, EU retained law, subsidy control, state aid, and structural funding aligns with Knights' strategic focus on expanding its presence in the North East.

Neil Warwick has earned acclaim for chairing the Federation of Small Businesses' pre- and post-Brexit portfolios on international trade and regulation. His extensive experience includes working with listed companies on merger clearances, collaborating with multinational organizations on brand maximization and compliance, and assisting public sector bodies in fund creation.

In recognition of his contributions to the North East's economy and charitable work, Neil was awarded an OBE in 2018. His decision to join Knights reflects the firm's growing reputation and national presence.

Neil Warwick expressed his excitement about joining Knights, emphasizing the opportunity to contribute to a national team with expertise across key regions, including the North East.

Neil's arrival coincides with the addition of fellow EU and competition law specialist Ellen Huison in Leeds. Together with partner James Henson, who represents the European Union and European Council in the High Court, they form one of the UK's leading EU legal teams.

The expansion continues with the appointment of commercial lawyer Ben McMurdo in Newcastle, bringing the total to eight new arrivals since Knights established its presence in the city in 2023.

Lisa Shacklock, client services director at Knights, praised the additions of Neil and Ben, emphasizing their outstanding reputation in Newcastle and the broader North East. She hinted at forthcoming plans for a flagship office in the city and expressed excitement about adding more talented individuals to the growing team.

With 23 offices nationwide, Knights ranks among the top 50 UK law firms by revenue, offering a range of services to business clients and premium advisory services to private individuals. The firm's strategic growth underscores its commitment to delivering high-quality legal solutions across the country.
