Juan Oñate joins Stephenson Harwood in Madrid
Law firm Stephenson Harwood has announced that Juan Oñate has joined its new Madrid office to lead as Managing Partner, enhancing the firm’s international growth strategy
Juan joins from Pérez-Llorca and is recognised for his substantial expertise in restructuring and insolvency, having managed significant cross-border cases throughout his career. Eifion Morris, CEO of Stephenson Harwood, expressed confidence in Juan's abilities, stating "Juan is highly regarded and well known in the market."
Juan's track record encompasses negotiation, approval of restructuring agreements, and various litigation matters which have involved prominent clients from diverse sectors. He remarked "From the moment I met Eifion and the team at Stephenson Harwood, I was impressed by their ambition." The expansion into Madrid is intended to bolster the firm's service delivery to clients keen on engaging with the Iberian market, reinforcing their legal expertise across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Morris further commented on their vision, indicating their plans to establish a comprehensive team offering services in corporate, tax, real estate, finance, and dispute resolution. Juan will be joined by partners Jesús Almoguera, Carlos Gonzalez, and Eduardo Vazquez from the Spanish boutique firm J Almoguera Abogados, as Stephenson Harwood builds its presence in Spain.
