Jeff Lewis elected as deputy vice president

The Law Society of England and Wales has announced Jeff Lewis as the newly elected deputy vice president
On 28 May 2026, the Law Society of England and Wales council officially elected Jeff Lewis as its new deputy vice president. Lewis will assume his role in October 2026, progressing to vice president in 2027 and then president in 2028. His extensive experience as a deputy district judge on the Northern Circuit since 2001 has equipped him with invaluable insights into court operations and the ongoing challenges regarding access to justice.
Joining Brabners Solicitors as a partner in 2005, Jeff has also been actively involved in various advisory committees within the Law Society, including the Membership and Communications Committee and the Civil Justice Committee. Additionally, he has represented Manchester on the Law Society council since 2016 and has been a dedicated member of the Manchester Civil Courts Users’ Committee.
Mark Evans, the current president of the Law Society, expressed his support for Lewis’s election, stating “Congratulations to Jeff on his election as deputy vice president of the Law Society. He emerged from a strong pool of candidates, and his experience and commitment to the profession will be invaluable. I look forward to working with Jeff to drive progress and help the Law Society navigate the future successfully for our members, the legal community and society. I wish him all the best.”
In his acceptance of the position, Jeff Lewis remarked “I am honoured to be elected deputy vice president of the Law Society at such an important time for the profession. I look forward to being a strong voice for solicitors, encouraging young people to enter the profession and build their careers. We need to ensure our justice system continues to serve everyone effectively.”
As the 184th deputy vice president in the history of the Law Society, Lewis will bring his dedication to enhancing professional standards and advocating for the legal community during these transformative times. The Law Society has three elected office holders—president, vice president, and deputy vice president—each serving for a term of one year, ensuring continuity and leadership within the organisation.
