HCR Law raises significant funds for charity

Over the past year, HCR Law has successfully raised over £153,000 for various local charities across its 13 offices
Hundreds of enthusiastic staff members contributed their time, skills, and generosity through a diverse range of activities. These included baking, volunteering, and participating in various sports challenges, such as netball, football, and even significant hikes like the Three Peaks and walking the River Wye. The firm not only celebrated its success but also announced an ambitious target of £160,000 for the 2026/27 financial year.
Adam Finch, HCR Law Partner and Charity Fundraising Partner, commended his colleagues, saying "Colleagues from all corners of the firm have taken it upon themselves to organise activities every month. Their energy and enthusiasm has been truly infectious. With the momentum we’ve built across all our 13 offices, I’m confident we can exceed our new target." This enthusiastic involvement has led to initiatives that support local causes, such as enhancing literacy among schoolchildren and beautifying the gardens at Cheltenham Hospital’s oncology department.
One of the notable highlights of the firm’s charitable efforts is the annual Chariots of Fire event, a six-person relay race through Cambridge’s historic university colleges, which has raised funds for the British Heart Foundation this year. Sarah Lennon, Head of Community Fundraising at the British Heart Foundation noted, “Thanks to everyone at HCR Law for the energy, enthusiasm and support they brought to the run. Every pound we raised helps power lifesaving research and gives hope to people living with heart and circulatory diseases.”
The firm has also seen a substantial increase in payroll giving participation, with an 85% rise from the previous year, and aims to build on this momentum. Charity ambassadors from different offices have shared their experiences, showcasing the personal fulfilment they find in giving back. Zara Shah, a lawyer supporting the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, expressed the importance of charity work in her life, stating, “I enjoy being a charity fundraiser because I believe that kindness and generosity can make a real difference to people’s lives. As a Muslim, giving to charity is an important part of my faith.”
Zoe Atkinson from the Worcester office mentioned, "Seeing the difference we can make together as a team is always a highlight." Other ambassadors echoed similar sentiments about the community spirit and connection fostered through their charitable efforts. Cara Keen, a Partner in Norwich, added, “A charity ambassador can bring the office together around a brilliant local cause, this year that’s Norwich Foodbank.”
Firmwide initiatives and local causes benefit as HCR Law continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the wider community. Adam Finch concluded, "Supporting the wider community is incredibly important to us and while the headline fundraising figure is important...it’s only the tip of the iceberg of the investment of time and energy, enthusiasm and passion our firm makes." With a legacy of over £2 million raised in the last 30 years, HCR Law exemplifies the power of collective effort in making a meaningful impact.
