Chair of the Legal Services Consumer Panel Sarah Chambers has raised concerns over the Solicitors Regulation Authority's decision to change its insurance requirements for freelance solicitors without providing evidence or reasons for the change in policy. In a letter to chair of the Legal Services Board Helen Philips, Chambers said the decision to place freelance solicitors offering non-reserved services under no obligation to have PII 'will lower consumer protection and exacerbate confusion'.
