Fieldfisher enhances its Berlin practice

Fieldfisher has appointed Dr Benny Wünschmann to strengthen its German dispute resolution practice in Berlin
European law firm Fieldfisher has bolstered its dispute resolution capabilities in Berlin with the appointment of Dr Benny Wünschmann, effective from 3 August 2026. A seasoned specialist in litigation and corporate law, Wünschmann primarily advises on corporate and transaction-related disputes alongside liability issues concerning corporate officers. Joining the firm from Flick Gocke Schaumburg, he brings a wealth of experience in both litigation and out-of-court dispute resolution, encompassing domestic and international arbitration proceedings.
Wünschmann's expertise encompasses disputes arising from corporate transactions and venture capital investments, with a particular emphasis on post-M&A and post-exit conflicts, shareholder disputes, and issues related to the duties and liabilities of corporate officers. His role also involves handling complex commercial law proceedings, especially those involving tax issues or supply chain disputes. He represents a wide array of clients including companies, shareholders, members of management, and investors, focusing on early conflict identification and strategic avoidance.
The establishment of Wünschmann’s position marks the official launch of Fieldfisher’s dispute resolution practice in Berlin, complementing existing teams in Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich. His appointment is expected to enhance collaboration with the firm's international corporate practices in M&A, private equity, venture capital, and restructuring. Furthermore, the addition of Wünschmann aligns with the firm’s ongoing effort to provide comprehensive advice on liability issues born from corporate crises as well as guidance on directors’ and officers’ duties.
Fieldfisher’s Berlin office is evolving into a crucial component of the firm's European network, now hosting seven partners. The recent arrival of digital finance expert Eric Romba has significantly enriched the office's capital markets and fund advisory capabilities, fostering additional synergies across various practice areas. This expansion is part of the firm's broader strategy to enhance its international dispute resolution practice, following the appointment of Energy disputes partner Richard Power in June, which has further strengthened its cross-border disputes capacity. The Dispute Resolution practice now counts over 450 lawyers globally, reflecting Fieldfisher's ongoing expansion within the European and global legal market.
Dr Benny Wünschmann expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating that “with its international platform and the close collaboration among its various practice groups, Fieldfisher offers the ideal conditions for further expanding the dispute resolution practice. Particularly where corporate and transaction-related disputes are concerned, there are numerous points of connection with other teams within the firm. I look forward to contributing my experience and further developing the practice together with my colleagues in Germany and internationally.”
Dr Philipp Plog, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Germany, commented on Wünschmann's appointment, noting that “with Benny Wünschmann, we are gaining a strong partner. He brings a wealth of experience in complex disputes and a broad perspective on corporate and transaction law. This will strengthen our advisory services in corporate disputes while further developing our Berlin office.” Jonas Mark, Partner and Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group, added that “further expanding our nationwide presence in the area of dispute resolution with an expert like Benny Wünschmann is an important signal of growth for our international network. Following Munich, Hamburg, and Frankfurt, we are now also represented in Berlin. This enables us to support our clients even more closely and across all our locations.”
