Excello Law joins University of Leicester

Excello Law is set to partner with the University of Leicester on a new real estate legal panel beginning October 2025
Leading new-model firm Excello Law has been selected as one of only four firms to join the University of Leicester’s first dedicated real estate legal panel. This formal partnership, which will kick off in October 2025 and last for an initial two years, builds on Excello’s extensive experience advising the University on various property matters. The team at Excello will provide guidance on all facets of the University’s real estate portfolio, covering transactional work, as well as development and construction advice.
With property law specialists strategically located in the region, Excello is well-equipped to handle a wide range of real estate issues, including acquisitions and disposals, development transactions, leases, and general portfolio management. The partnership's scope will also encompass matters concerning Space Park Leicester, a cutting-edge hub for space research and innovation established in collaboration with the University, industry partners, and the government.
Lesley Stewart, the University of Leicester’s Estates Property Manager, highlighted the benefits of this collaboration, stating "Richard and the Excello team have provided outstanding support to the University on real estate matters over the last few years and we’re pleased that they have joined the University’s first formal real estate legal panel." She added that "their commercial insight and flexible approach align well with the dynamic nature of our estate development programme." This collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of legal support the University receives in the coming years.
Richard Osborn, Partner in Real Estate and Property Development at Excello Law, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, saying "We’re delighted to be appointed to the University of Leicester’s real estate legal panel." He also noted, "As a proud University of Leicester alumnus myself, it’s a privilege to support the University’s ambitious estate strategy and contribute to projects that will shape the future of the campus and wider community." Osborn emphasised that Excello Law’s agile model along with its profound sector expertise will allow them to provide responsive and commercially focused advice covering the full spectrum of property matters.
Freeths, Nelsons, and Josiah Hincks are the other law firms selected to be part of this inaugural panel for the University of Leicester.
