Shoosmiths has expanded its Commercial Litigation practice with the addition of partner Emma Carr from Gowling WLG
Shoosmiths has announced the significant hire of Emma Carr to enhance its Commercial Litigation practice in Birmingham. Previously a partner at Gowling WLG, Emma has over two decades of experience, particularly in managing complex and high-stakes disputes that present considerable financial, operational, and reputational risks. Her background includes representing both public and private sector clients across various industries, and she is well-regarded for her practical and commercially-focused approach to dispute resolution.
Emma’s specific expertise covers a range of areas including commercial disputes, litigation funding, and high-value negligence claims. She is adept at advising clients on intricate matters such as contractual disagreements, professional negligence claims, shareholder issues, and public sector procurement disputes. Emma collaborates closely with boards, senior executives, General Counsel, and in-house legal teams, assisting them in effectively managing litigation risks and resolving disputes in alignment with broader commercial objectives. Additionally, she has garnered recognition for her proficiency in litigation funding, helping clients navigate funding arrangements essential for efficient dispute resolution.
