DOMESTIC ABUSE

By

A domestic abuse victim has won a libel case in the Supreme Court after her ex-husband took legal action over a Facebook post that told his new partner he had 'tried to strangle her'. The husband's complaint was upheld to begin with, with the judge ruling that the comments made it look like the husband had tried to kill her. Overturning the decision, a panel of five Supreme Court justices concluded it had been a legal error to rely on the dictionary definition of 'strangle'. 3 April 2019
