The move to State-of-the-Art Bristol office signals commitment to sustainability and modern working

National law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has successfully transitioned its 300-plus Bristol-based colleagues into the new Assembly Building C on Cheese Lane. The move from Georges Square in Bath Street to the 11-storey grade A space in Bristol's Floating Harbour represents a significant leap in the firm's commitment to sustainability and modern working practices.

The top two floors, spanning 15,624 sq ft, have been designed for hybrid working, accommodating both remote and in-person collaboration. The new office features enhanced collaboration spaces, including a relaxed client suite and a colleague business lounge, as well as communal kitchen areas, quiet zones, and meeting rooms.

Crucially, the move aligns with Clarke Willmott's dedication to sustainability, with Assembly C boasting an energy efficiency rating of A. This rating contributes to the firm's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, pending validation by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The office's electricity supply is entirely renewable, thanks to Clarke Willmott's utilization of the Bristol Heat Network—an underground network delivering low-carbon heat and energy across the city, reducing carbon emissions.

Peter Swinburn, CEO of Clarke Willmott, emphasized the significance of the move in strengthening the firm's sustainability commitment and supporting their evolving work culture. "We now have a space that offers the very best experience for clients and colleagues at a scale that supports our successful blend of in-person and remote working," said Swinburn. "It's a tremendously exciting time for Clarke Willmott, reflecting our commitment to honouring the past while building for the future."

Assembly Building C, developed by AXA IM Alts' real estate platform in collaboration with Bell Hammer as the development partner, showcases a successful project with construction by PCE Ltd. and fit-out executed by Alteriors Design & Build Ltd. and Estilo Interiors. The move follows the opening of a purpose-built office in Birmingham, a major refurbishment of the Taunton office, and plans for a new Cardiff office later this year, as Clarke Willmott celebrates its 135th anniversary.
